Sloan Reptiles: “We imported a CH Female Pastel in 2007. We began producing offspring from her in 2009. We noticed some animals of the same crosses lighter and more contrast than others within the same clutch. We first noticed it in Phantom Crosses. Being 2010 or so we put Pastel into a lot of crosses. Breeding a Bumblebee YB to our original Pastel Alloy we got some holdbacks that were Super Pastels with Alloy, Spider and YB. Since then we have produced a lot of Super Pastel Alloy and Super Alloy crosses. We finally have enough for photos and animals to really distinguish the crosses. So far there are no recessives crossed with alloy in visual form. We are working on Hypo, Pied and Lavender so far.”

Alloy removes clutter from the yellows and adds orange tones. Unlike orange dream, it doesn’t reduce the pattern, instead intensifying the contrast. The super form increases this and also affects the pattern a bit.
