The Mahogany Ball Python is a colour and pattern altering mutation that was discovered around 2005 by Amir Soleymani. Mahogany is easily told apart from a Normal Ball Python by their heavily contrasting black/dark-browns against earthy-browns and golds and usually chained patterning.

Appearance

Head

Mahogany Ball Pythons have a very dark head, ranging from chocolate-brown to almost black. Mahogany Ball Pythons tend to have lighter shading toward the back of the head and neck.

Body

The body of a Mahogany Ball Python is usually completely covered in chained “alien heads”. Dark blushing can be seen along the black “puzzle” pattern and heavy flaming up its sides.

Tail

The tail of the Mahogany Ball Python usually carries the same “chained” pattern as the rest of its body, with a earthy-gold dorsal stripe.
