Lavender is a combo morph that describes a black base animal and the effect of hypo that reduces overall melanin production. This causes the base color to appear lavender, purple, sky blue, and in some cases with a greenish hue. A misconception is that “true lavenders” do not fire up. This is simply a misconception of how the trait works. The less a hypo animal appears to fire is an indication of a greater level of the trait’s stacked dominance or expression in relation to the other traits. This is true with all the known hypomelanistic traits. [2]
