Ron Trempers LG Pro: “As the name implies, this trait has white and yellow colors on the body. It is a line-bred polygenic trait, and can be expressed in the first or second generations at a 50% ratio, which can cause it to be considered as a Dominant gene. The term “Polygenetic Dominance” has been coined to describe its genetic affects. When bred to any other non-white and yellow morph the offspring often express the White & Yellow trait in some, but not all morphs. Like the Bandit and other polygenetic forms the best examples must be bred together or the trait will degrade greatly in your gene pool.”

The White and Yellows first appeared randomly in a European collection in 1996 and until recently were not available in North America.
We breed reptiles for a long time. We also breed leopard gecko for more than 20 years.
In 1996 an interesting and unusual female was born, she was very different from other geckos. It was a spontaneous mutation. After that there wasn’t anything like her. But we knew what male was her father. When she grown up, we crossed them, but only two babies were similar to the female. After one year there were born two children, which looked like the female. In the result we created the group of 1.1 parents and 2.2 their children, that became a base for a further selection. But this selection proceeded really slowly. Interesting children were very polymorphic, but they all were different from the normal leopard geckos. They had contrast yellow white background and they were hypomelanistic. One geckos had more white color, others more yellow(seldom orange) color.
We began calling our gecko’s line “White&Yellow”. We were the most interested in geckos with the least quantity of dark spots. But in the other geckos we saw a lot of interesting directions in the character of pattern. But we couldn’t keep them all because we also have a huge quantity of other reptiles. Our line became popular and we told everybody that these geckos are a very good material for selection, and our geckos weren’t similar to any line of leopard gecko in those times. All of known hypomelanistic morphs had very ”clean” body but spotted head or tail(for example High-yellow, Super hypo tangerine etc. Our line’s geckos are opposite, they have uncolored head and tail, like Enigma morph. First “White&Yellow” were sold in 2002. A big quantity got to Poland, less to Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Western Europe and may be to the USA.

White and Yellow usually hatch with high white tails and very little Carrot Tailing.
Through Matt Baronak’s test breedings thus far he has concluded they are not Enigmas. They do not exhibit the same eye traits as the Enigma and have not done the star gazing or spinning that some Enigmas exhibit.
It is currently unknown whether there is a super form of the White and Yellow. This will be discovered through further test breeding.
Some breeders have found their White and Yellow Leopard Geckos tend to have a mild balance issue causing them to overstep when walking, however this is not an issue that has been reported in everyone’s collection throughout the community and has been speculated to be related to certain lines of the W&Y trait and can be bred out within a generation or two.
People often compare White and Yellow Syndrome (WYS or WS) to ES. However, WS mostly only affects balance and coordination. It was previously thought that the equilibrium issues evident in this morph are caused by the WY allele itself. Respected breeders, however, have found that it isn’t and are thus continuously using White and Yellows for their projects.
No known proven lines, however, please see Controversy section regarding balance issues in some lines.
