About
Ecologist and Herpetologist. Undergraduate degree in Ecology and Environmental Science through South Dakota State University. I have worked with herps in natural history, eco-toxicology, physiology, conservation, and zoos and aquariums. I started in the hobby breeding red-eyed tree frogs and hourglass frogs for my PhD projects, and have since found myself fascinated by all things Western Hognose.
Trades: I am only interested in hognose snakes at this time. Genes I like the most are Lavender, Caramel, Evans/ Dutch Hypo, Axanthic, Arctic, and Leucistic. I am most attracted to pastels, high contrast, and pattern.
I don't post every animal. I hold a lot of animals back and sometimes decide to part with them later. So if I have gene combos you like, feel free to reach out. I'm happy to discuss what's not listed and put you on a "wait list" for certain combos.
I love this hobby and enjoy giving back to the community and supporting science and natural history projects.
I ship only when weather permits safe transport on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I prefer to ship FedEx hub to FedEx hub for the safety of the animals and for the ability to purchase additional on time and live-arrival guarantee insurance.
Every purchase has a $10 shipping material recovery fee unless stated otherwise.

Shipping costs- depends on area and day shipped. Shipping estimates can be obtained with your ZipCode and I am happy to locate your nearest hub for the safest delivery method available.
I ship Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid delays and currently use Shipyourreptiles.com and their guidelines for suitable shipping conditions.

Will ship at buyer's expense. I can provide a shipping estimate and nearest FedEx Hub location with your Zip Code. Animals are shipped from Cincinnati, OH 45216 Paddock Rd Fedex Hub. If you do not know your hub, I can find it for you and give you instructions on how to pick up. Tracking information is sent by email and you typically can go in with your driver's license or other government issued ID to claim. Hub to hub priority overnight is strongly recommended, but standard overnight can be used. I only ship overnight for the safety of the animals. Typically animals arrive "empty" and their weight may vary by a few grams due to not having a meal prior to shipping. Customers are advised not to prematurely handle animals excessively until they have had 2-3 days of rest. Please inspect them, and then allow them to adjust before offering a meal or holding them excessively.
All animals are healthy and eating well (typically 10+ meals) for several weeks before sold. Typically animals will be a minimum of 12g before I ship, but every animals eating habits and temperament are considered to ensure animals are safe and will have the greatest chance for success in their new homes.
-Shipping Destinations/Laws-
I can ship to most of the lower 48 on Tuesday or Wednesday. Please be sure to know your local laws prior to purchasing (it is illegal to ship/keep Western Hognose in the state of Colorado).
-International Shipping-
Happy to accept courier service so long as the customers arrange. Happy to coordinate with couriers if needed. I do have the ability to ship internationally, but will only do so for orders over $1000. Buyer is responsible for all international shipping costs and possibly a fee for coordinating international shipping.
-Shipping Materials & Live Arrival-
Buyer is responsible for $10 shipping and material recovery costs ($6 box fee and $4 thermal/cool pack).
FedEx hub to FedEx hub comes with live-arrival guarantee at an additional cost ($2.50 for the first $100 and an additional $2.50 per $100). I will typically cover the $2.50 for on time arrival, but additional insurance for the total value of the animal is at the buyers expense. Please let me know if you'd like that included in your quote. At home delivery voids the guarantee due to unpredictability of weather/ circumstances/ pick up times. I reserve the right to hold all animals until weather is within Ship Your Reptiles guidelines (see website for details) for safe shipping. If there are delays with FedEx, I will typically recommend waiting to decrease the chance of any possible delays. Safety of the animals is my first priority.
-Sexing-
Sex is not guaranteed, but I will send additional pictures upon request and work with you to feel confident in the sex of the animal prior to shipping.
-Returns/ Refunds-
All sales are final. Live arrival is only offered guaranteed FedEx hub to hub with the purchase of additional insurance through Ship Your Reptiles. Buyer must send notification of unhealthy, incorrect, or deceased animal within 2 hours of pick up. If other circumstances arise please let me know so I can assist you. FedEx will allow you to upended the box on site and packaging is safe to open and re- seal.
I have yet to lose an animal during hub to hub ship- hopefully this continues. But in the unlikely event that it happens, please communicate with me as soon as possible so I can help you.
-Holds-
Animals can be placed on hold with a 25-35% non-refundable deposit. Standard length of time is 30 days, payment plans in excess of 30 days are possible but may require a fee to house/feed the animal depending on the length of time. Typically, a fee of $5-10/ week will be added prior to shipping. Please feel free to inquire about holds, as I am fairly flexible with how these are set up.

General care sheets can be available upon request. I do highly recommend sending a photo with your set up or asking for suggestions prior to shipping so everything is ready when your animal arrives and everything goes flawlessly.
